3 TIPS TO KEEP YOUR WORKERS
HAPPY AND HEALTHY IN THE HEAT:
1. Sunscreen. Always have sunscreen available on sight if your employees are outside.
2. Hydration. Remind your workers to hydrate throughout the day.
3. Weather. Remind your employees to take cover in storms, as no job is worth their health.
WCB RESPONSE TO FORT MCMURRAY FIRES:
The WCB has published a response to how provincial states of emergency are adjudicated and the proposed changes may have negative results for employers. To view the changes as well as providing your input click on the following link https://www.wcb.ab.ca/forms/policy-feedback.asp . The implications could mean that if work is unavailable for employees at your company during a time of disaster only those on WCB or those who file for WCB during this time period would be paid. You would, at the Board’s discretion, receive cost relief, which ends when the state of emergency is lifted. This Meaning that at the discretion of the Board the modified work will (or should) resume when your business is running, although you could still incur time loss costs. Additionally, this proposed policy could be in contradiction with section 24(2)(b). For more information please call us.
